This post is going to be the odd love child of “fodder” and “mish mash” – kind of a lot of stuff going on here, nothing otherworldly, but some decent pickups and I was able to throw a few more “X’s” down on my 1987 Topps Project.
On to the show.
First – to protect the innocent, I won’t name names here but I was recently referred to a few Facebook TTM groups and through one I found a member who is selling off a ton of his TTM collection on SportsLots. Made a quick easy purchase from him and am ten closer on the 1987 Topps and Topps Traded Projects.
- All 1987 Topps
- #79 Juan Nives (former failure)
- #40 Dave Righetti (picked up one from him – still need one more)
- #13 Nick Esasky (former failure)
- #559 Lance McCullers (one recent pending but two failures)
- #348 Carmelo Martinez
- #230 Don Baylor (one pending and two former failures)
- All 1987 Topps Traded
- #114T – John Smiley
- #110T – Dave Schmidt
- #119T – Jim Sundberg (one pending about a month or so old)
- #116T – Mike Stanley (one pending from about two months back)
And now for the stuff that has hit the mailbox –
Doug Rader 3/3 in nine days – not too much detail here to add. Similar theme to many of my side project posts in the past – 1984 Topps, 1989 Topps and 1991 Topps. Thanks for the quick turn around Doug!
Al Newman 2/2 in 12 days – I failed with Newman early in my TTM days and was disappointed as he was always a hometown Twins favorite. Have since picked him up twice, both times through the St Cloud Rox.
Fun fact – Newman played seven positions in the field, all he did not do was pitch and catch. He was also one of only seven players who were on both the 1987 and 1991 Twins World Series Champion Teams.
Terry McGriff 2/2 in about a month – one for the 1988 Fleer project (now over 100 cards received) and one more for 1989 Topps.
Paul Runge 1/1 in 12 days – normally don’t send out single card requests anymore but this was the only Runge card I had. Quick, easy and it looks nice – thanks Paul!
Greg Booker 2/2 in 17 days – second successful return from Booker. Took care of the 1985 and 1989 Topps cards for him.
Bruce Benedict 3/3 in a little less than a month – 1985 Topps, 1989 Topps and my relatively new side/side project – 1983 Topps
Jeff Kunkel – sent three, got four back (right card is a religious card) in 40 days. 1985, 1989 and 1991 Topps taken care of for Jeff – his second return for me.
That is all for this go ’round. Hopefully the mailbox is full today so I have more to report to you shortly. Stats for 1987 Topps and Topps Traded are listed as follows:
